If you're buying any industrial rubber product—mats, hoses, gaskets, flooring, insulation—spend 10 minutes up front on a spec review. Involve someone who's seen what fails in the field. And don't assume the vendor's 'standard' matches yours.

Take this with a grain of salt: I've been in quality for 7 years, and I still make mistakes.
