A TPU tube is different. Yes, you can patch a TPU tube, provided you use the right TPU patch kit. TPU and butyl are not the same, and neither is a TPU tube the same as a hydraulic hose. The common thread is that repair is not a universal skill. It is a design property. Some products are made to be repaired. Some are made to be replaced.

What the premium actually bought

I don’t think every purchasing decision should end with the most expensive option. I still buy budget spray bottles and generic office supplies without guilt. But when a material represents your company—a reception floor, a visible entrance, a product your staff relies on—the price difference is not the real comparison.

The Pirelli floor cost more than the unbranded alternative. What the premium bought was verifiable quality: spec sheets, maintenance guidance, a published sustainability report, warranty terms, and a supplier who could answer questions. That documentation made it easy to justify internally, easy to match with rubber baseboards, and easy to explain to a client who asks about material standards.

The floor still looks sharp months later. The baseboards still match. The scissor lift is running on a new hose assembly. And if someone asks me whether you can patch a hydraulic hose, I now give the same answer the supplier gave me: no, unless the manufacturer says yes in writing.
